Manuscript Guidelines

If you wish to receive a copy of these guidelines, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope with $0.37 in postage attached. If you wish to receive a copy of our catalog, please send a self-addressed 10 x 12-1/2 envelope with $1.98 in postage attached.

Peachtree currently publishes the following categories: children’s picture and illustrated chapter books, young adult books, education, parenting, self-help, and health books, travel and recreational guides about the southeast, nature and outdoors titles, general gift books, and cookbooks and gardening books with southern orientation. We do accept original fiction with a southern flavor, but publish very few titles in this category, seldom more than one a year.

Peachtree does not publish historical novels (except children’s and young adult titles), poetry, short stories, plays, science fiction, fantasy, romance, westerns, horror, business, scientific or technical reference, or books intended specifically as textbooks.

While Peachtree has active titles in the categories of adult fiction, humor, gardening, and cookbooks, we are not currently soliciting manuscripts in these areas. We are also not soliciting CDs, tapes, or videos at the present time.

If you would like to submit your manuscript, please send one of the following:

• For children’s picture books, send full manuscript;

• For all others, send either a Table of Contents plus three sample chapters,

PLUS:

• Biographical material on the author(s) AND

• A stamped, self-addressed #10 envelope for a response, or a properly-sized self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage if you wish your materials returned.

Please do not send original artwork or original copies of manuscripts. Artwork in general is not required. The publisher reserves the right to select the illustrator.

Please do not fax or email queries or manuscripts. Do not send your manuscript on CD or diskette. We will not review any submission received this way. All queries and manuscripts must be sent by US Mail. Address all queries and manuscripts to Helen Harriss.

Peachtree receives approximately 20,000 submissions each year, so please do not call regarding the status of your submission for at least six months. We will review and respond to each query or manuscript in the order received.
